UHP Technology Delivers More Wellhead Cutting Success

At R&D Solutions we’re proud to represent UHP and their unique Ultra High Pressure jet-cutting solution for wellhead decommissioning. The UHP cuts and removes wellheads and flow lines with precision, providing a safe and effective alternative to traditional, more dangerous approaches. 

During June we welcomed a new customer, AWE, that required decommissioning of a series of wellheads in the Perth basin. The use of a UHP jet-cutting solution was a first for both AWE and the region, and the technology passed with flying colours. We cut and capped three wellheads and restored the area, leaving the customer happy with both the performance of the equipment and the clean and safe outcome of the job. The images below document the process, with no workers required in the hole during the cutting process and no spark risk throughout from burning gear.

The UHP jet-cutting equipment has been used for over a decade by major oil and gas operators and we’re proud to make it available to operators in Australia. It’s an inert cutting method which uses high pressure water, meaning no naked flame, minimal environmental footprint and a safer process. 

R&D Solutions can supply a crew is skilled in industry standard cutting approaches and completely self sufficient, able to work in remote areas to ensure timely decommissioning of customer wellheads. We’ve completed wellhead cutting for a range of clients including Statoil.
